Vital Signs: Wednesday, November 20, 2024

“Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?” - ‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Look Both Ways

It is easy to observe what others are doing wrong and notice what they need to work on. It’s much harder to honestly look within ourselves, recognize our own flaws, and address the battles within us. Just as focusing too much on others can prevent us from improving ourselves, dedicating time to self-improvement leaves little room to dwell on someone else’s problems. An additional benefit of introspection is that it fosters compassion and understanding for the challenges others face.
