Stay Focused on the Provider
“When we are full, we forget God; satisfied with earth, we are content to do without heaven.” — Charles Spurgeon
“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.” - Deuteronomy 8:3-4 NIV
I read a quote the other day that said, “God will allow what He hates to accomplish what He loves.” I don’t believe God finds joy in allowing His creation to go hungry. But I do believe, like Spurgeon said, that when we lose sight of the truth that our provision comes from God alone, He will do what it takes to bring us back to it. Why? Because He loves us and He is jealous for us.
Yes, He will teach us and lead us by paths we have not known. Through His grace, mercy, provision, and correction, the Father brings the student back to the place of true learning and resets our hearts and eyes on Him.
Let us be reminded today that our true provision comes from God. What the world offers will never satisfy, but when the Father provides, we lack nothing and hunger no more. Stay focused!
