What’s Your God Story (And Why It Matters)

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me… For when I am weak, then I am strong.”—2 Corinthians 12:9–10 (NLT)

Has anyone ever asked, “What’s your God story?” and left you unsure how to respond?

You might feel like your story needs to be dramatic—like running into a burning building to save someone or calming a storm at sea. But here’s the truth: your God story isn’t about what you did. It’s about what God has done in your life.

A God story—also called a testimony—is simply your personal story of meeting Jesus and being transformed by Him. No smoke, no lightning bolts—just real life, real grace, and real change.

You can think of it in three parts:

- Before: What was your life like before you met Jesus?

- Encounter: What led you to your “come to Jesus” moment?

- After: How has your life changed since choosing to follow Him?

Your story matters because it reveals God’s power in your life. In Scripture, God repeatedly uses imperfect people with imperfect stories to accomplish His perfect purposes. Your story—just as it is—can point people to Jesus, encourage someone who’s struggling, and remind you of His faithfulness.

It’s not about having the most exciting story. It’s about being honest about the grace you’ve received.

Today’s Challenge:

Set aside time in the next four days to write out your God story. Be prayerful. Be real. You never know how God might use your story to impact someone else.
