Finding Our True Identity
“I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be, and by the grace of God I am what I am.” — Charles Spurgeon
In a world that constantly tells us who we should be—based on popularity, achievements, appearance, or success—it’s easy to lose sight of who we truly are. We start defining ourselves by grades, friendships, sports performance, social media likes, or mistakes we’ve made. But none of those things were ever meant to carry the weight of our identity.
Our true identity isn’t something we earn. It’s something we receive.
The Bible reminds us in Psalm 139 that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That means you are not an accident. You were designed with intention. Your personality, your gifts, your quirks, even the things you’re still growing in, are known by God.
When we look to the world for identity, we’ll always feel like we’re not enough. But when we look to God, we discover we are already loved, already chosen, already valued.
If you follow Jesus, Scripture says you are:
-A child of God
-Forgiven
-Chosen
-A new creation
-Never alone
Your identity is rooted in who God says you are—not in what others say, and not even in what you sometimes think about yourself.
Team Wade is crazy about you ❤️👊
