Thirsty for Righteousness

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” - ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Only thirsty people drink. They don’t just talk about drinking. Many of us say, “I need to spend time with God every day in prayer.” And the next year, we say, “Well, I haven’t gotten around to it yet, but I need to spend more time with the Lord in prayer.”

If that’s the case in your life or in my life, our problem is that we’re not thirsty. Jesus offers living water of the Spirit to all who are spiritually thirsty. All we have to do is come to Him and ask. I will say, if we get thirsty enough, we will come to the fountain.

When we come to our prayer time spiritually parched and ready for the Holy Spirit to quench our thirst, our time with God will come alive. Every morning when we get up, start with a simple prayer: Father, today I thirst for You, I long for more of You, and I surrender myself completely to You. Fill me with Your Spirit right now.
