The Silence of the Tomb
“I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” - Revelation 1:18 NKJV
When Jesus was laid in the tomb, everything seemed finished. Hope looked buried. The disciples were scattered, grieving, and confused. From the outside, it appeared like darkness had won.
But the tomb was not a place of defeat; it was a place of hidden work.
While the world saw silence, God was still moving. The stillness of the tomb reminds us that just because we don’t see progress doesn’t mean God is inactive. Sometimes, the most powerful moments happen in the quiet, unseen spaces.
The stone wasn’t the end of the story; it was a pause before victory.
In our own lives, we all experience “tomb seasons”; times when prayers feel unanswered, when hope feels distant, when everything seems still. But just like that Saturday, God is working behind the scenes, preparing resurrection where we only see endings.
What feels “buried” in your life right now? Can you trust that God is still working, even in the silence?
God, help me trust You in the quiet places. When I don’t see movement, remind me that You are still at work. Give me faith to believe that every ending in You holds the seed of new life. Amen.
