Nothing Can Separate Us

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The words we’ve just read are not a feel-good sentiment. These words are a declaration of war against fear, insecurity, and the persistent lie that God’s love is like everyone else’s—fragile, fickle, conditional, and temporary.

“For I am persuaded” is not a hope-so statement; it means fully convinced.

That neither life nor death can create distance between us and God.

Nor angels, nor principalities, not even cosmic forces or demonic opposition.

Nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come—not even our current anxiety or future fears.

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature—not depression, not betrayal, not trauma, not even our own failures.

Shall separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That’s not just poetry. That’s the most secure reality you will ever know. Now let’s go live in it!(Shane Clements)
