When Quitting Is Not an Option
“By perseverance the snail reached the ark.” — Charles Spurgeon
“And let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” — Galatians 6:9
There are moments in life when the easiest choice is to walk away. The work is hard, the progress feels slow, and discouragement whispers that quitting would bring relief. But sometimes faith means staying when everything in you wants to leave.
Perseverance is not about stubborn pride—it’s about trusting that God is still working, even when we cannot see immediate results.
Throughout Scripture, we see people who kept going when quitting seemed reasonable:
- Noah built the ark for years before rain ever fell.
- Joseph endured betrayal, slavery, and prison before seeing God’s plan unfold.
Their stories remind us that God often does His deepest work in seasons of endurance. When quitting is not an option, lean into God’s strength instead of your own. What feels impossible in your strength becomes sustainable in His grace. Sometimes the breakthrough is just on the other side of the moment you wanted to quit.
Prayer:
Lord, when I feel tired and discouraged, remind me that You are working even when I cannot see it. Give me the strength to keep going and the faith to trust the harvest will come in Your time. Amen.
