All In Starts with Being

“Be all for Christ, since he is all for you.” — Charles Spurgeon

“For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.” - ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’ve noticed, at least for me in my 63 years on this planet, that we humans tend to find our worth in doing. Yes, I do believe as born-again God followers that walking out the precepts of scripture are signs of fruit that come with authentic salvation. We tend to think that our doing and doing and doing is considered “all in” when it comes to our relationship with Christ. Keeping all the laws, following all the commandments, being an outstanding citizen and a person of upright integrity is important.

But I truly believe with all my heart that all in with Jesus starts with just simply being. If we center our lives around being with Christ through prayer, meditation, and time in the Word, then serving Him through our acts of obedience will be empowered by the Holy Spirit of God and done from a right heart of thanksgiving rather than obligation.

Yes, I believe we should go all in, but I believe there’s a right way in which to do so. Working ourselves to death to please God rather than spending time with God is not the proper way.

He’s already crazy about you. Allow that to move you to go all in.
