Freedom To Glorify God
“You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. If I can thank God for the food and enjoy it, why should I be condemned for eating it? So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved.” - 1 Corinthians 10:23, 30-31, 33 NLT
Those who are free in Christ are indeed free. Unlike the Israelites, who followed specific food rules to remain ceremonial clean, we are free to eat and drink without having to worry about becoming unclean. But rather than doing whatever we want, our freedom demands that we carefully consider what we choose. Is it beneficial? Is it good for others or self-centered ?Those are important considerations, but the big one is "Does it glorify God?" It takes honest courage to question whether the way we live selfishly glorifies ourselves or gives honor to God.
Paul says "All things to all people that we might win some"
