Why Lukewarm Doesn’t Work
In the Book of Revelation 3:15–16, Jesus Christ says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot… because you are lukewarm… I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”
That’s strong language; but it carries an important truth: halfway commitment doesn’t lead to real transformation.
Being “lukewarm” means trying to stay comfortable; close enough to faith to feel safe, but not surrendered enough to be changed. It’s choosing convenience over conviction, and blending in instead of standing firm.
But faith was never meant to be passive. God desires a heart that is fully engaged; honest, passionate, and growing. Even being “cold” (far from God) can be a starting point, because at least it’s real. Lukewarm faith, though, often hides behind routine and never moves deeper.
The good news? You’re not stuck there.
In the very next verses, Jesus invites us to return; to be renewed, refined, and restored. He stands at the door and knocks, ready for anyone willing to let Him in fully.
Where in your life have you been settling for “lukewarm”? What would it look like to pursue God with your whole heart today?
“God, I don’t want a halfway faith. Stir my heart, wake me up, and help me follow You fully; with passion, truth, and commitment. Amen.”
Team Wade loves ya and there’s nothing you can do about it ❤️👊
