Now or Later

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15

We often live in the tension between now and later. We say things like, “I’ll pray later,” “I’ll forgive later,” or “I’ll start doing the right thing tomorrow.” But God’s voice doesn’t call us to delay; it calls us to respond now.

Delayed obedience is often disguised as good intention. The problem is, “later” isn’t guaranteed. Opportunities to grow, to love someone, or to follow God can quietly pass us by when we keep putting them off.

God works in the present moment. When He nudges your heart; whether it’s to apologize, to step out in faith, or to spend time with Him; that moment matters. Saying “yes” now strengthens your faith. Waiting often weakens it.

Lord, help me not to delay when You speak. Give me the courage to respond right away, trusting that Your timing is always best. Teach me to choose obedience now instead of waiting for later. Amen.
