The Body of Christ
“Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another.” - 1 Corinthians 7:7
When it comes to salvation, it is true that most true believers understand “salvation past”. That is as believers, we are saved by the shed blood of Jesus. We also have a pretty good understanding of “salvation future”. That is, as believers we will spend eternity in heaven. But I believe we most struggle when it comes to “salvation present”. We struggle with this because we, in many instances, do not operate in salvation present. For many, we swim in the despair of broken marriages, rebellious kids, sexual perversions, and materialism, even though Jesus died to free us from the bondage of this present sin. Jesus does this so that we may operate in our giftedness for the benefit of others and for the glory of God.
In the text above, we understand that every believer has at least one gift given to us by God and every believer views other people, circumstances, books we read, and songs we sing, everything, through the lens of our motivational gift. There are seven motivational gifts. Thats seven people seeing the same things seven different ways.
We will pick up tomorrow identifying the gifts. In the meantime, may we ask God to help us understand that just because our brother or sister in Christ sees things differently doesn’t mean they’re always wrong.
