Crying Out for Help

"Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains. Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them."

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107‬:‭13‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When we make mistakes and fall into serious sin, we often weep and cry because our image is damaged or we have lost so much. But the crying stops when the guilt wears off. Crying out for help is different—it is the beginning of our transformation. God responds when we come to the end of ourselves and humbly ask for His help, struggling in the desperation we have created. The psalmist reminds us that when our ancestors finally cried out to God for help, He saved them and restored them.
