Vital signs- Thursday, November 24th, 2022

Forever… it’s a long time! Eternal really. Imagine something lasting that long. When you’re very young, 30 seems very old; when you’re 30, that becomes 60; and when you’re 60, it’s 90. Imagine, what is forever? Some trees live for hundreds of years. The nearest stars take light years to get there. The nearest star (other than the sun) is Alpha Centauri and that is 4.35M light years away. That is equivalent to 41.2 trillion kilometres. Would that take forever to get there? It would feel like it!

Yet here are these simple words before us: God’s love endures forever. How wonderful are these words – so simple and they bring such joy. What’s better than the love of God? I sang a song at Sunday school as a child, ‘wide, wide as the ocean; high as the heavens above; deep, deep as the deepest sea, is my Saviour’s love’. The words of the song end ‘for His love reaches me everywhere’.

His love for us is so wide, deep, high, we won’t really understand all of it until Jesus returns. But the Bible reveals some of it to us. It tells us what God has done for us. It shows us that the story of God’s love is our creation, redemption from our sin in the Garden of Eden, and through to Jesus’ return and our new life.

The key part is Jesus’ willingness to die on the Cross so that our relationship is restored with God (John 3:16). All we need to do is say ‘yes’.

This is the love that endures forever. Thank you God.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭118‬:‭1‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Team Wade is Thankful for you and loves you!
