The Righteous Path

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

To ask the God of humanity to search us deeply, to know us deeply, and to test us to the point of knowing everything that brings about anxiety in our lives seems to be a scary ask, don’t you think? But the truth is He already knows every evil thought, every anxious thought, every selfish act, and anything and everything in our lives that would keep us in the ditch and away from the path He would have for us to walk. What David was asking was not for God’s benefit—He already knows. David was asking for his own benefit, for God to reveal to him the very things he needed to be made aware of. Any unrighteous act, so that he might repent and walk in righteousness. It’s the righteous path that leads to everlasting life.

Father, Poke holes in our darkness where your light might shine the brightest. In Jesus’ name.
