Vital signs- Thursday, July1st, 2021

“And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The purpose of the teachings of Christ is to declare that his followers are to pray earnestly. All these qualities of the soul are brought out in the parable of the man who went to his friend for bread at midnight. This man did his task with confidence. He could not go back empty-handed. The flat refusal of help shamed and surprised him. Here, even friendship failed! But there is still something to be tried - Stern resolution and fixed determination .

He would stay and pursue his demand until the door was opened. He proceeded to do this and by persistence, secured what ordinary requesting had failed to provide.

Ask, seek, knock and keep on asking and seeking and keep on knocking !

Dear God, thank you for teaching us through your word that persistence in prayer yields results.

In Jesus name , Amen!
