Prayer is Our Lifeline

“A Christian can no more live without prayer than I can live without breathing.” — Charles Spurgeon

“Woe to the city of oppressors, rebellious and defiled! She obeys no one, she accepts no correction. She does not trust in the Lord, she does not draw near to her God.” - Zephaniah 3:1-2 NIV

Prayer is an essential part of Christian life and helps us connect to God and navigate challenges. Without prayer, we risk losing peace and direction. Just as Israel rebelled against God, so we often find ourselves doing the same thing, going at life as though we don’t need God until we need Him! You know what I mean — a prayerless life as long as things are good, but when things turn south, we’re upset with God because He’s not hearing us. Could it be that He’s speaking, yet we do not recognize His voice?

Father, help us today to make prayer a priority, to pray without ceasing, and to be in constant communication not just for what You can do but because You are our Father, our Abba, our Dad. Father, forgive us for our lack of prayer.
