Nothing Is Too Small for God
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”—Matthew 6:26 (NLT)
You might feel silly bringing small requests to God, but I believe that is a lie Satan wants us to believe. This verse in Matthew reminds me of the depth of the Father’s love for us and how nothing we bring to Him is too small. In fact, it is vital that we bring even the smallest things to God.
1. Small things reveal how we view ourselves. When we reserve prayer only for certain things, we take on the role of God, deciding what we will give to Him. We analyze our circumstances and ask, “Is this something I can handle on my own?” Oswald Chambers said, “An unguarded strength is a double weakness.” Overconfidence leaves us vulnerable to temptation. But when we bring even the small things to God, we invite the power of Heaven into our circumstances—far greater than our own strength.
2. Small things reveal how we see God. His love for us is bigger than we will ever understand. Don’t shortchange God by assuming He doesn’t care. Don’t shortchange yourself by not allowing Him to be part of every aspect of your life. He is neither too busy nor limited in what He can handle.
Remember, friend, you are not a bother to your Heavenly Father. He longs to care for every part of your life.
Pray about the things you usually hesitate to bring to Him—the things that seem too insignificant.
