Vital signs-Monday, November 9th, 2020

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:1-2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A sign stands outside a church that reads “Hope is Real”. I agreed with the statement almost instantly. Yet as I continued to play these words over in my head I realised that for many people, the notion of hope is lacking and nowhere to be found. Hope to the believer is a strong and confident expectation , it is what drives us to keep going and what encourages us to keep moving forward. The biggest problem we have in the world today is there are so many people who have lost hope. There seem to be so much pain, problems, sicknesses, troubles, financial woes, family problems, world issues, political concerns etc. It is easy to feel that the world has no hope.

When someone has lost all hope, and is filled with the feeling of hopelessness, it is often difficult for them to lift themselves out of that situation and state of mind. This is where we, as followers of Christ come in. We must bring the good news of Jesus and how He is the hope of the world. So, I encourage you to step out in faith and make His name known during times  where there is a loss of hope. Be the guiding light that brings people out of the darkness. We know our God, and we trust in Him wholeheartedly because we know He has gone before us and that His love never fails. During times of uncertainty, we must remember that God holds us in His hands, He will protect us and therefore we need not be fearful or afraid. As it says in Romans 5:3-5, “We rejoice in our sufferings…because God’s love has been poured into our hearts”. Let us stand firm in our confidence in God to protect us in times of trials. When crisis or pandemic strikes, we bring the message of hope and life.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for being our immovable rock in a changing landscape. You are constant and You are good. Even when our circumstances are inconsistent and uncertain. We depend on You. We proclaim the truth of Your Word over our lives. We look to You for provision and peace. Help us to share the hope we have in You to a world seeking the truth. Amen.
