“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
(Proverbs 17:17)
As parents, friends , leaders and spiritual mentors, God has given us the responsibility of guiding people toward wisdom. One of the ways this is most important is in the area of friendship. For better or worse, young people especially are greatly influenced by their friends. Often, you can evaluate the spiritual condition of your children by their friends.
We should warn our children and friends against hanging around with those who reject the truth; we must be firm with who we allow ourselves to be friends with. As Spiritual leaders, we must help people understand the dangers that are involved in our choices, carefully guard our company, and teach others the importance of their choices.
You’re free to choose, but you’re not free to choose the consequences of your choice. After you choose, then your choice chooses for you.
• How have you experienced the reality that, “after you choose, your choice chooses for you”?
• How might sharing your own experiences with your family and others you influence, help to guide them toward wisdom?
Take time to invest in someone today by sharing your own experiences and the wisdom you have gained from following Jesus.
