“What We Learn by Watching”
New York Yankees’ legendary catcher, Yogi Berra, was known for his great play on the field, but also for his memorable sayings and interesting books. “You Can Observe a Lot by Watching” is one of his famous quotes and also one of his book titles. I think there is depth to the simplicity of this “yogi-ism” when it comes to life and faith. What and who are we watching? What are we doing with those observations? There is so much to be learned by watching people we admire. How do they love their spouse...or treat their kids...or handle business?
If we desire to grow closer to God and mature in our faith, choosing right examples to follow is very important. Ultimately we must all look to Christ as the example, but we are blessed when we observe Jesus being represented in the lives of people we watch and admire.
“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1 ESV
