“For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.”

(Ephesians 5:23)

Who is the head of the Church? Jesus Christ. And the husband is to be the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church. Think about Jesus who is the head of the Church. He is the Sovereign Lord of the Church. He’s your Lord. Consider this question. Has Jesus Christ ever, ever forced you to do anything? Not one time. And yet Jesus is the head of the Church, and He is the Lord of your life and worthy of everything you have. And yet He is not the dictator of the Church; He is the head of the Church. And this is what a husband needs to be.

• How does this passage help you think differently about godly leadership?

• If you are married, how are you pursuing the instruction of Ephesians 5?

Seek to lead another person in the way of Jesus today by sacrificing some of your own desires for the sake of another.
