Keep Track of Your Finances In biblical times
a shepherd's flock was his means of support, his finances. What I want you to get from today's verse is this: "Pay close attention to your money." The Living Bible translation it puts it this way, "Riches can disappear fast so watch your business interests closely." Bottom line -- if you want to manage your finances well, you need to keep good records. You need to know what you owe, what you own, what you earn, and where it's going. Ignorance with your finances can get you in trouble. How many times have you gone into a shop and said, "I wonder if we can afford this? Never mind! We've got credit." You put it on the credit card without realizing you don't have the money to pay for the credit card. You might be saying, "I don't have the time to keep good records." If you will use the time that you use to worry about your finances to instead keep good records of your finances, you will have a lot less to worry about.
“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds;”
