A Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

“Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭50‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

ASAPH tells us that God approaches His people and does not do so with silence. One of the first things he tells us to do in this text is to make thankfulness our sacrifice to God and keep the vows we made to the Most High. How many different ways do we all attempt to approach God with thanksgiving? Maybe it’s in church attendance, maybe it’s in our tithes or our offerings or serving the less fortunate. But it’s here the Father tells us to make thanksgiving our sacrifice—not just thanksgiving for what He’s done for us personally, but for who He is: His love, His mercy, His grace. Then walk in obedience by keeping our vows. This can only be done by the power of the Spirit of God. It’s after these things that we call on Him in times of trouble with perfect assurance that He will rescue us, which follows with us once again giving the Father thanks and giving Him glory. I love the order in which this is given. May we today begin with a sacrifice of thanksgiving and obedient hearts.

To God be the glory!
