The Great Commission: Share the Story
“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” - Matthew 28:16–20 (NKJV)
Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead, He ascended into Heaven. He gathered His followers together, spoke to them one last time, then went into the clouds, promising to come back one day. In Jesus’ final message to His followers, He told them to go out into all the earth and tell others about Him.
Jesus’ message of truth, love, and grace is worth sharing. We need to tell others that by trusting in Jesus, they can have an eternal relationship with God and be forgiven of their sin. This message is something we cannot keep to ourselves—we need to follow Jesus’ command and share it with others!
Challenge: Who is someone you need to tell about Jesus? Make a list of people in your life who still need to hear about Him, and take a moment to pray for each of them today.
Take it deeper: Be bold today and go share Jesus with someone. Tell them your story, or invite them to church with you.
