The Value of the Holy Spirit

“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” — John 16:7 (NKJV)

Jesus told His disciples that His departure would actually be for their benefit because the Holy Spirit would come. The Holy Spirit is not merely a source of power; He is God’s presence living within every believer. He comforts us in sorrow, convicts us of sin, guides us into truth, empowers us for service, and reminds us of God’s Word when we need it most.

Too often we seek God’s blessings while neglecting the greatest gift He has given us: His Holy Spirit. We cannot live the Christian life in our own strength. Victory over temptation, wisdom for decisions, boldness to share the gospel, and the fruit of Christlike character all come as we walk in step with the Spirit.

Today, don’t simply ask God to bless your plans. Surrender your heart to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to lead every step. A life led by the Spirit is a life that glorifies Christ.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for a heart that beats, but I long for a heart that beats for You. Thank You for the gift of Your Holy Spirit. Teach me to listen to His voice, obey His leading, and depend on His strength rather than my own. Fill me afresh today so that my life reflects Jesus in all I do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
