Begin with Praise
“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” — Psalm 100:4
When we start our prayer, praise shifts our focus from ourselves to God. Before asking for anything, we remember who He is—faithful, merciful, powerful, and present. Praise quiets anxious thoughts and opens our hearts. It reminds us that we’re not speaking into the air, but coming before One who already knows, already cares, and already reigns.
The pattern is simple: acknowledge His character, thank Him for His goodness, and honor Him for His works. As praise rises, faith grows. Worries loosen their grip, and our requests become grounded in trust instead of fear.
Today, begin your prayer with words like:
“Lord, You are good. You are faithful in every season. You are worthy of my thanks. I praise You for Your love, Your patience, and Your presence in my life.”
Let praise be the doorway. When you start there, everything else in prayer flows with peace.
Lord, teach us to enter Your presence with hearts of gratitude. Help us to see Your greatness before we look at our problems. May our first response always be to honor Your name and trust in Your goodness. Amen.
