One of the most important questions you could ever ask is: “what is God doing in the here and now?” The follow-up question is all so important: “how should I respond to it?”
Are we tracking with God‘s agenda? Are we after what God’s after? Are we living in a way that is consistent with what God is doing?
Here’s the bottom line. Right here, right now, God isn’t so much working to deliver us our personal definition of happiness. He’s not committed to give us a predictable schedule, happy relationships, or comfortable surroundings. He hasn’t promised us a successful career, and a community of people who appreciates us. What He has promised to us is Himself, and what He brings us is the joy-of His transforming Grace. No, He’s not first working on our happiness; He’s committed to our holiness. That doesn’t mean He’s offering us less than we hoped for, but much much more.
The big question is: do we value what God values?
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1:2-4 NKJV
