A Tendency to Revel

“My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck. When you walk, their counsel will lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up, they will advise you. We are all born with a tendency to rebel against the teachings of our fathers and mothers. Then we watch the next generation do the exact same things. Good parents teach their sons and daughters to be men and women of character and integrity. Obeying their parents instructions keeps children from running down the wrong path with the wrong people are being lured into, the traps of sin. Sadly, many today keep their eyes fixed on the things of this world rather than fixed on Jesus.

 Practical application for today is as we study God’s word, may we obey its wise teaching and save ourselves and our children from the bondage of sin.
