Belonging to a family is a deep social need that God fulfils in making us a part of the body of Christ, that is, the church, community. We belong with other believers, and we have fellowship through the cross of Christ. Jesus instructed us to take communion together as a family, reminding us that we are to share our joy. He uses us as His hands and feet to meet each other's needs and encourage one another towards a greater knowledge of His grace and mercy. He has carefully placed you in His family for a purpose.
“so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
Romans 12:5 NASB1995
Pray with me
Thank you, Jesus, that because of You, I am being built up into a family as a fellow member of the family of Christ. I am an important brick in Your building. Thank you for giving me a place to be together with other believers. I am sorry for the times I have tried to go it alone. I am sorry for the times that I have chosen not to invest in the ‘whole building’ of the body of Christ because I have been selfish. I choose to believe today that I belong, that I am a fellow citizen, that I have a place in the family, with You at the head of the table. I ask You to please help me to fellowship with others in a way that pleases You and to contribute to the unity of Your building. For Your glory, Amen.
