Identifying Hidden Idols

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” - ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As we direct our focus to the Father and wait patiently for His will to open the way in our lives, we may discover many obstacles hindering our relationship with God and our ability to exercise faith in Him.

These strongholds—or idols—are often subtle. They creep into your life covertly, root themselves in your emotions, and become more important to you than God.

No one can identify an idol except the Lord—He sees your heart clearly. Anything that competes for your total devotion to Him is an idol. So what is it in your life? What are those things, hidden or known, that stand in the way of waiting patiently for the Lord’s will to manifest? Ask the Father to reveal them to you. He has promised to be faithful in showing you if and where an idol exists.

But be careful—don’t rationalize away what He reveals. If the Lord puts His finger on something in your life, set your mind to deal with it immediately.
