Praying About Everything
“Prayer must not be our chance work, but our daily business, our habit, and vocation.” — Charles Spurgeon
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
It’s true that anxiety is one of those secret killers not just among those who are not Christ followers but even for many who call themselves Christ followers. It should be different for those of us who call ourselves Christians simply because the Word of God tells us to be anxious for nothing. I think the problem for many is that we are not praying about everything with thanksgiving or even supplication. Supplication means to pray earnestly as though we’re begging and to do so with humility. I know for me, I often try to fix it myself and then when things fall apart, I cry out to God. This can’t be the case.
We must:
1. Pray about everything
2. Earnestly and humbly
3. With thanksgiving
4. Understand that it is after we’ve done these things that the peace of God will guard our hearts and minds
May today be a different day as we learn how to pray about everything.
