“When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.””
Mark 2:17 NKJV
The prophet Hosea didn't marry someone who had a right to wear the traditional white dress. He didn't marry someone who was a virgin. In fact, she was a prostitute. He had to pursue her again and again just as Jesus pursues His people over and over again.
When God accepts us in the beginning, He accepts us as sinners who fall short of His holy standard. That's how we have to come to Him. If you don’t come to God as a sinner, you can't come to Him at all. Grace is for the graceless. The Gospel is for the unworthy. We are all unworthy without Jesus.
After you have received rest and peace, God changes the things that you love. That’s grace too. He pursues you just like Hosea pursued his wife whose heart was bent towards running away in shame.
