Preparation for Battle must be intentional .
While Joshua was faithful to scout out Jericho, there was still a battle ahead. While it is true that victory is already ours with God on our side (Romans 8:37), this does not mean we sit idly and neglect to prepare for what is ahead!
Joshua 5 speaks of the Israelites preparing for battle against the Canaanites, who occupied the Promised Land. While many of these preparations are to be expected around wartime, there were also preparations many armies would never even consider before a battle: circumcision and celebration of the Passover. These were not done to help the Israelites on the battlefield—they were done to show the special conventional relationship between God and Israel.
While it is imperative we trust in God for victory, we also need to take action and prepare for the battle that lies ahead. Even though God promised Joshua and the Israelites the Promised Land, Jericho, and all the other victories along the way, they still had to prepare, fight, and take it.
Take time today to prepare. Prepare for the battle that lies ahead, and trust in God for your victory!
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Romans 8:37 NKJV

What are some ways for us to prepare for battle today? I know prayer would be the first answer, digging into the Word of God, etc. Do you have some more ideas?
