The Gift of Grace
“It is an insult to the Savior to dream that our works can save us.” — Charles Spurgeon
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”- Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV
We live in a world where we are taught that in order to accomplish greatness and achieve much, it must include hard work. I agree that hard work is a biblical principle, but I also know that when it comes to the saving grace of Jesus, our salvation is not accomplished through anything we do but through what Christ has already done.
It’s pretty obvious that the way to Jesus is contrary to the way of the world. Hard work often produces a performance-based mentality. This in itself can make it very hard to receive a gift that costs you nothing on the front end.
This we know; the gift of salvation cost Jesus everything, cost the Father His only Son, and will require a totally surrendered life from those who receive the gift. Please don’t run from the gift. It offers you everything you could ever imagine, and not just on a temporary basis, but for eternity.
Let’s not insult the Father today. Let’s learn to be human beings, spending time with Jesus, rather than human-doings, working so hard for Him that we don’t have time to spend with Him. That has never been God’s plan.
Team Wade loves you and is praying for you ❤️👊
