When Your Emotions Lie to You

“Faith is not a matter of feelings, but of fact.” — Charles Spurgeon

Emotions are powerful. They can alert us to danger, help us connect with others, and deepen our faith. But as real as emotions feel, they are not always reliable. Sometimes they whisper things that simply aren’t true. You may feel forgotten; but God says you are chosen. You may feel alone; but God says He is near. You may feel unworthy; but God calls you His child.

The Bible reminds us in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart can be deceitful. That doesn’t mean your feelings don’t matter; it means they shouldn’t be your final authority. Feelings fluctuate. Truth remains.

Think about David in the Psalms. He often poured out fear, sadness, and frustration. Yet he didn’t stop there. He would shift from “Why am I downcast?” to “Put your hope in God.” He acknowledged his emotions but anchored himself in truth.

When your emotions tell you:

- “You’re not enough,” remember Psalm 139: you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

- “Nothing will change,” remember Lamentations 3:22–23: His mercies are new every morning.

- “God doesn’t care,” remember Romans 8:38–39: nothing can separate you from His love.

Faith isn’t pretending you don’t feel pain. It’s choosing to believe God’s Word over your changing moods.

Let's Pray:

Lord, when my emotions feel louder than Your truth, steady my heart. Help me to acknowledge what I feel without being ruled by it. Anchor me in what is true, not just what feels true. Amen.

Team Wade loves you and is praying for you ❤️👊
