“He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.”

(Revelation 19:13)

Have you ever considered the similarities between Jesus and the Bible? Both have come from God. The Scriptures have come from God, and the Bible says in Galatians 4:4 that “God sent forth His Son.” The Scriptures will last forever. First Peter 1:25 says, “The Word of the LORD endures forever.” And Jesus endures forever. In Revelation 1:18, Jesus says, “I am alive forevermore. Amen.” Both are unchanging. Jesus said in Matthew 5:18, “one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” And Jesus was described in Hebrews 13:8 as the One who changes not: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Both Jesus and the Bible are lights in a dark world. Jesus said in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world.” And the Bible says of itself in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” John 17:17 says that the Bible is truth. Jesus said, “Your word is truth,” but in John 14:6, Jesus also said, “I am … the truth.”

If you believe in Jesus, you have to believe in the Bible. If you believe in the Bible, you have to believe in Jesus. You cannot separate the two.

• How does today’s devotion show you the importance of valuing both the Bible and Jesus?

Take time today to read your Bible as the Word of God that reveals Jesus.
