“Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”
I Peter 1:13 NKJV
When wrestling with the treasures of the faith it is always good to return to what Jesus himself has to say about the matter. After all this is his story, the renewal of all things, the promise, the greatest hope.
Yes, heaven is awesome. Heaven is the paradise of God. But heaven is not the great anticipated event that the writers of the New Testament look forward to. Rather it is the return of Jesus.
“And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.”
Philippians 3:20 NLT
Sudden as a bolt of lightning, sharp as the tip of a sword, the bodily return of Jesus Christ brings with Him - the renewal of all things.
The two are united- The renewal of all things awaits the coming of our Lord, and the coming of our Lord ushers in the renewal of all things.
I so look forward to heaven but I’m more so look forward to the return of Jesus and the renewal of all things.
