Vital signs- Sunday, June 27th, 2021

“Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, ‘One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.’”

(Mark 10:21)

Repentance and faith are connected. When you turn from sin, you turn to Jesus. This man’s sin was greed; he had to turn from it and toward the Lord Jesus Christ. This man needed a new master. Jesus said, “Come and follow Me.”

Is Jesus Christ the Lord of your life? Only you can give the true answer to that question. This is in your own heart. Romans 10:9 says: “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Faith is not merely nodding a head to a series of theological facts about Jesus. We must make Jesus the Lord and Master of our lives.

• How have you experienced the connection of repentance and faith in your own life?

• Where is God speaking to you about the need to not only agree that Jesus is Lord but also to live in light of that reality?

What would change in your life if you lived with Jesus as your true Master? Take steps toward that change today.
