Awake to His Presence

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” - Isaiah 60:1 NKJV

If we are true believers, we have been baptized by the spirit and into the body of Christ. We are also indwelt by the spirit who will never leave us. These are givens for the true child of God.

But neither of these realities guarantees us all the benefits of the spirit. The spirit can be in us, and we can know very little of his power and influence. The problem is not that we do not have the Holy Spirit. The problem is that he often times does not have us. The concern is not that the spirit is not present in our lives, but that we are not awake to his presence.

The more consistently filled we are with the spirit of God, the faster we will grow in our faith and the more powerful and effective our prayers will be. It is impossible to live the Christian life and live as a powerful prayer warrior on our own. If we could do it, we would not need the Holy Spirit.

The key is surrender.
